This reports itself as 4.1.0.
They are definitely there (provided there are enough messages for the scroll
bar to appear).

I want to move messages past where my eyes are focused in order scan the subjects.

That changes the selected message - so you can't see if it is read/unread.

The message list can be paged my clicking on the scroll bar (unless you are near
one end), but that really moves it too far/fast to scan read the subject lines.
