No, it's not intentional. Possibly this will be resolved when more of the
Claws Mail code is ported to gtk3 - there are GtkStyle deprecated functions,
for example.

Porting from GTK 2 to GTK 3 is a much bigger task than most people can
imagine, it's a huge task. The GTK team have done no favours at all to
projects such as ours, instead have caused multiple hours (weeks, months!) of
work just to land, at best, in the same place you started. Naturally, most of
the team (past and present) have looked at this work and thought of other
things they would rather be doing, with only a few actually tackling some
areas. So, patches welcome or patience needed.
