Either you or me is confused. I think the message list is the part of
the display that holds a list of messages. I don't know any way to
select an email address in that list, and I don't see those entries in
the context menu when I click above an email address in the list. I do
see those entries when I right-click on an email address in a message
display, but that's a different situation, so not what's being
discussed, I think.
That may be why Paul asked for clarification.

I just tried using gedit as a representative GTK application and I
don't see the 'faulty' behaviour. If I select some text in a message,
which might be an address, and then click elsewhere in claws, I can
still paste the text that was selected into gedit. So I don't
understand what is wrong.
I use claws 3.16.0, so I suppose it's possible there's been a
regression?
