The Fancy html rendering plugin shows those images. But you probably don't
have that any more, since your distro probably removed the required version
of webkit.

The Dillo html rendering plugin does not show those images.

The LiteHTML html rendering plugin does show those images, but this plugin
has not yet been released.

So, making it work? Build the required version of webkit yourself, then build
the Fancy plugin.

Or, get the LiteHTML plugin from git and build it yourself. Or wait until it
is released.

None of these is probably what you wanted to read.

As for getting browsers to understand CID images, probably not going to
happen.
