Assuming you also had disabled automatic mail checking and enabled the 'Open
last opened folder at start-up', which you didn't mention in your initial
description, I've followed your steps and no connection was made to the
disabled server.

The only explanation I can found is that you may have inadvertently left open a
folder of the second (disabled) account instead of first, which obviously makes
it to connect.
