I tried reproducing this step by step, but I do not see any connection to the
second account's server. Claws Mail started, and opened the folder I had opened
before. Network log shows no second connection attempt.

The only difference was that I did not use Yahoo and Gmail, but my private IMAP
account, and my work IMAP account.

There has to be something else happening at your end.
