Your understanding of "Delete" differs from mine.
Delete means the email is completely gone.
The "Trash" is not the same as "Delete". Trash is a half-way place. The
email is simply moved to another folder, with specific properties
appropriate for unwanted mail. It can be moved back, but there is no
such option if I delete the mail.

So if you "by mistake press the wrong button and delete the current
message" you are not deleting the message, just moving it.
