Once I reinstalled Claws Mail, without AVG installed, it tried to
connect to the localhost on those ports, rather than the actual mail
server and it went through the same errors rather quickly.
Once it went through all of them, the main Claws Mail screen appeared
and I was able to then change the server and port settings back to
what they should be. I also replaced AVG with Avast, which doesn't
require any special program settings in the e-mail program being
used for SSL connections. The server hostnames are added to Avast
itself and it handles the SSL connections.
Problem solved. Thank you for the reply, Michael.
