DM: Yes, this is what I've eventually / progressively defaulted to, as
a result of issues I was facing or features I didn't want to wait for.
There's a learning curve, but I had the motivation. I also try to make
/ keep detailed notes so I don't have to 're-learn' things. Another
advantage is that doing it with one program (eg. Claws) also gives you
general learning / experience you can apply if / when you want to do
something similar with other programs.

DM: Not sure if there is anything for Claws specifically, but I'm
guessing there are resources out there for those interested. With some
open-source projects, I've observed that some users / contributors have
taken on the work of packaging for particular distros on a more timely
basis, with it usually being the distro that they primarily use. But
it's likely that whoever would do packaging would be doing it primarily
for the benefit of others, since if they've learned the skills it takes
to build and package, then it seems that it would be relatively easy
for them to pull from git and build from source, etc. 🙂️ ---Dustin
