[Users] sent message gets lost in an unusual scenario

I have an deactivated IMAP account, with old messages still in local cache. Server is still active, but password has been changed and I didn't changed locally, so when clicking on a folder from that account the program first tries to connect, after a while reports refused authentication, then offer entering the correct password (which to this point is the expected behaviour).
Now, I go to one of the child folder from the inbox tree there (cached locally) and click on a recipient address in order to send a new e-mail to that address (this instead of entering manually the full name and e-mail address). The compose window opens, where I change the drop down 'From:' field to one of my local POP account (which is totally different to that IMAP). Then I write whatever subject etc.
Problem: when effectively sending the message, the program sends correctly the message to recipient (I now that for sure), but my sent copy disappears, because the program first tries to reach the original IMAP account where I clicked the e-mail address, after a while it gives authentication error (which is correct), and then the message simply vanishes.
Happens regardless I send directly or after putting it to queue first (which belongs to the 'From:' field of the POP account) and send later.
While making a deliberate test in queue method, by looking at the header before sending, there is a 'SCF:#imap/mfm/INBOX/foldername' entry which I believe it is the culprit of this problem ('foldername' is the child folder name of that IMAP where I first clicked the recipient).
Question: why the existence of that line ? I expect that, after changing the 'From:' field on compose window, from that point my message should have nothing to do with the IMAP account anymore. At present, it appears the program insists on putting the sent message in that original IMAP folder, which is not reachable online.
Normally, I would expect the sent message to be found in the Sent folder of the account that was used to actually compose and send the message. In a worst case scenario, at least to be added to the cached Sent folder of that inactive IMAP account – although I see no reason for that, as long as I decided to simply use another account. Instead of all this, the message gets completely lost.
