Are they actually the same? Did you copy the ~/.claws-mail/ directory from
the old to the new, or did you try to manually make them the same? The
comment about the port suggests the latter.

Here's a guess: In your account preferences, on the Send page, turn on 'SMTP
Authentication', leaving the method as 'Automatic'.
