The complete error message is attached.

Account TLS settings:

* under IMAP on the TLS page", "Use TLS" is"clicked on";
* under Send (SMTP) on the TLS page, "Use TLS" is "clicked on;
* at the bottom of the TLS page "Use non-blocking TLS" is ticked.

I noticed that it says, in respect of the last item, "Turn this off if
you have TLS connection problems". I tried that; it made no difference.

These are the only TLS settings that I can discern.

On the "Advanced" page it is indicated that the SMTP port is 587,
and the IMAP port is 993. I see that on the old machine (which works)
the SMTP port is 465. So I changed the SMTP port on the new machine
to 465. This made no difference

The thing that puzzles me is that the specifications are exactly the
same on my account on the old laptop as on the new one. Yet the old
one works, and the new one doesn't.

The old machine runs Ubuntu 22.04, the new one runs Ubuntu 24.04.
Both machines have version 4.3.0 of claws-mail.

That's all the information that I am capable of providing.

sincerely,

Unk
