Interesting question.  

Here is a screenshot of Manjaro Tweaks windows, Claws Mail version 4.1.1git59 responds the setting Legacy Applications, like also Emacs, Gthumb, Cheese but unlike some other Gnome applications like Nautilus, Google Chrome, Skype.

The former are Legacy, the latter are not, but what is the criterion?

Possibly GTK number (3 or 4)?
