Bug ID: 4706
Summary: Attachments have wrong permissions
Product: Claws Mail
Version: 4.1.1
Hardware: PC
OS: Linux
Status: NEW
Severity: normal
Priority: P3
Component: Other
Assignee: users at lists.claws-mail.org
Reporter: mail at homerow.info
After upgrading claws-mail the permissions of the saved attachments are too
strict:
> -rw------- 1 foo tlk 106 2023-10-04 14:53 bar
This is a deliberate change according to the NEWS:
> * chmod 0600 is set on log files, history files, saved parts, etc.
In a workgroup/corporate/multi user setting this is a very inconvenient choice
since one has to chmod each saved attachment, so other users could read and
edit those files. I have set the default umask to 0020 and there is no way in
claws-mail to configure that attachments will be saved with more deliberate
permissions.
I vote for a way to configure the default permissions (or alternatively use the
global umask setting).
