DM: Sorry to hear that. My guess is that it's something to do with GTK3
and/or Claws Mail's implementation of it in 4.0.0. I'm not sure if
anyone will be able to give specific help with this unless they're able
to reproduce the problem you're facing.

DM: Do you have any other GTK3-based programs installed on your
machine? If so, do these shortcuts work with those? If not, I guess it's
possible you don't have certain GTK3-related dependencies installed
that are needed for this. You may also want to check on possible
missing packages related to keyboard input methods. For example, I was
using ibus and for awhile I faced strange issues with Claws where
certain keys didn't seem to work, until I finally figured out that
there was a specific package providing GTK3 support for ibus; once I
installed that, the issues disappeared.

DM: Okay; makes sense; I guess it's your choice in regards to
downgrading or upgrading. :)

DM: No, I didn't mistype -- I was simply noting that I'm not seeing the
problem on my GTK3-based version, which is based on 4.1.1, which is
available for those who want to upgrade. :) (BTW, I would be surprised
if 4.0.0 and 4.1.1 are different in regards to the issue you're having,
but you never know.)

DM: In any case, I would venture to guess that the problem may not be a
Claws problem, but rather a problem with one or more things / packages
that Claws is depending on. There are developers on the list here who
could probably give you a more definitive answer on whether this is
likely to be a Claws vs. 'non-Claws' 'bug', and/or provide you with
more / better ideas of how to troubleshoot this. At this point, I can't
think of anything else to add. ---Dustin
