[Users] Using 'Delete' key

Hi all,

I am newbie here. I recently installed (in buster) the version from 
Debian 10 repository.

I noticed that pressing 'Delete' key removes the actual message and then 
highlights the previous one, i.e. the older message in the message pane 
(instead of positioning to the next, newer message, something that is 
more logical to me, and that worked in Thunderbird). It makes me wonder 
if that behaviour can be changed?
