@Ron
What spell checker do you engage? I'm not sure if in my case ispell, or
hunspell is the one claws-mail 4.1.0 picks (native installation as provided
by Debian 12/bookworm, current branch testing), because there are a few other
installations with a spell check (e.g., LibreOffice Writer).

However, if I change the spell check parameter in CM (spelling -> options ->
dictionary (now: «en_US») to then -> more «fr» and start a new line, I do not
observe this pattern. As expected, «printemps» and «parlement» put at the
beginning of a new line are permitted, as are «Théâtre», «Août», «Garçon»,
etc. Thankfully, the checker equally suggests the correction of «Ecole» by
«École», too; once corrected, this word may start a new line as anticipated.

So far, this works well for the spell checker's profiles fr, fr_FR, fr_CH.

My packages on board are:
hunspell 1:7.0-1
hunspell-fr, hunspell-fr-classical
ispell 3.4.05-1 and ifrench-gut1:1.0-32.2

With regards,

Norwid
