Thank you, David, for introducing Homebrew to me. I checked it out and
see the few names you mentioned are supported for my MacOS version!

I shall try to install Claws on my Mac this weekend. If I am
unsuccessful with Homebrew, I shall try to follow the manual steps you
have provided.
