Firefox as a snap package is, for me, a reason not to upgrade to the latest
ubuntu LTS but to choose a different distro instead. Snaps seems a big
backwards step to me.

Probably the best workaround is avoiding using the snap firefox altogether by
using the mozilla team PPA:
https://www.omgubuntu.co.uk/2022/04/how-to-install-firefox-deb-apt-ubuntu-22-04

But if you want Claws Mail to use an alternate config directory location this
is possible, and detailed in `claws-mail --help` and `man claws-mail`. Start
Claws Mail like this:

claws-mail --alternate-config-directory /FULL/PATH/TO/THE/NEW/CONFIG/DIRECTORY

Obviously, use the actual path to your chosen config directory location.
