Hi,

when I decided to install authentication apps for testing purpose on
my iPads I cared for privacy. That said, I'm completely against this
insane kind of authentication. However, if people should consider
this multi-factor idea as a secure solution, then I wonder why people
consider it secure, to allow companies to collect data. There's not
only no need for an authentication app to collect data, the data mining
also makes authentication apps insecure.

I didn't wasted any time in verifying the claims made for the apps
OTP Auth and SAASPASS, nor have I done any research about the authors.
If somebody wants to use those apps I recommend to do what I've not
done. However, if it should be the truth that both apps don't collect
data, there should be no doubts to prefer these apps over
Microsoft Authenticator and Duo Mobile.

runs only on up to date iPadOS, so likely on up to date iOS, too

# # # # SAASPASS

runs on very old outdated iOS devices and on up to date iPadOS, so
likely on up to date iOS, too

Outdated iOS devices likely add another insecure layer. Again, I just
tested out of curiosity authentication apps (and to "rescue" a
Rocketmail account), I'm not really using those apps.

Used devices:
iPad 2, Model MC770FD/A, iOS 9.3.5
iPad Pro, Model MTFR2FD/A, iPadOS 15.5
both provide "WiFi", but do _not_ provide "Cellular", since I belong to
the people who dislike {mobile, smart}phones. I don't use
{mobile,smart}phones.

Regards,
Ralf

PS: "They" don't track and spy you by a Covid-19 vaccination, "they"
track and spy you by your mobile devices. Consider to ditch your mobile
devices and to get a Covid-19 vaccination. Mobile devices aren't good
for you or our societies, apart from very few exceptions a Covid-19
vaccination most of the times is good for you and our societies.
