When receiving an email which is html formatted, my default
representation is text only.  In the three-pane layout (your mail
folders to the left, the list of messages in the folder top centre,
the message centre), the third icon right next to the email in
question reads «type: text/html» when you hover over it with the
mouse.  First step: click on this.

With the fancy plugin, you are going to see the text of the message;
maybe with gaps where you anticipate images.  /Below/ the message
though, you have an icon of screw driver and wrench; here you may
opt-in/opt-out that the message displayed loads embedded images (like
an actual image), and to enable remote content (e.g., a background
pattern).  Adjust these parameters to your liking (though CM doesn't
allow to «unsee» elements already downloaded once) and request the
print (Ctrl + p) e.g. to a virtual printer to yield a .pdf file.
