[Gil] In Mint 20.2 the available flatpak (that I am using) is version
4.0.0 (GTK+).

In Mint 20.2 the available "regular" version (sorry, I don't know what
to call it) is 3.17.5-2 (GTK+2).

I see on the Claws-Mail website that there is a version 4.0.0 available
for download and installation.

Certainly if I could use that 4.0.0 version from the Claws-Mail
website and do a simple switch from my flatpak 4.0.0 to "regular" 4.0.0
it would be preferrable to trying to "fix" the flatpak I'm now
using.

Paul, do I understand your comment above that if I'm working with
the same version flatpak and "regular" then I do not need to worry
where the critical files are stored? They'll be fine during a
switch from one to the other?

Otherwise please tell me where version 4.0.0 on the Claws-Mail
website stores the important files (and specifically, which files?)
so that I can check and see if they're in the same place with
flatpak? Knowing the locations would be a huge help.

[Gil] Ah, there's the rub. I have not been able to determine
who maintains flatpak. Maybe in my search I'm looking right past that
information?

[Gil] And I agree. But I recall (maybe it was three years ago?) that
there were some others on this list (or maybe it was on the Mint
users list?) who had similar problems receiving e-mail from att.net and
its co-addresses, e.g., bellsouth.net.

I was not the only one who was having problems.
