[Users] Views keep getting changed on exit ?

So, we can finally deduce that this is a distro issue, with it being never
being seen on fedora or suse, but being seen on debian, ubuntu, and
mint. Ubuntu is based on debian, and mint is based on ubuntu.

I did see on an ubuntu machine what Ed described: " the main message portion
of the window drops close to the bottom". But that machine also had other
problems, like malfunctioning soundcard. That machine was /upgraded/ to
fedora and the claws-mail problem has vanished and the soundcard works.

IMHO, ubuntu is a distro best avoided these days, even, no /especially/ for
beginners, as it has "weird" problems. It's just too experimental.

Anyway, the solution for debian/ubuntu/mint is to install and configure
