Hi All
Long(ish)-time user that feels the need to contribute to this discussion

You realise that Claws mail is an entirely free piece of software,
created for free by people just like you and me, that is, they don't
get paid for doing the work? What makes you think these good people,
providing a good client _for free_ deserve this rant?
If you don't like the way the documentation is written, then help them
update it!
You say you checked the version 3 code base, that it had compliance
issues, etc. Then you state that the ver 4 code base is probably just
the same. I'm assuming you're a programmer (I'm not), therefore you
would know that ver 4 is probably a full rewrite of the code - it's
unfair to complain about it without even reviewing the ver 4 code base!
Again, if you see a problem, what are you going to do to help fix it?
You say that some of the plugins don't work properly for you... perhaps
they do for others. Version 4 has only just been released, perhaps
these great people, who work for nothing, who are just like you and me,
will update them when they have the time.
What are you going to do to help fix the plugins?
It really annoys me when people complain about free software without
actually contributing anything to the improvement of said software.
You expect perfection, for free, without putting any personal effort in.
If you want 'perfect' then I suggest windows - you pay for it,
therefore you're entitled to complain respectfully. With windows you
can also expect a certain standard and level of service. Would you
like to provide a service/software _for free_ and have people abuse you,
or post rants about how your software isn't good enough?
The RTFM days were good! People were polite when asking questions and
actually thought before posting (otherwise they wouldn't be answered),
which was nice for the people who helped answer the questions - people
just like you and me Luc. It encouraged the users to google before
asking, which meant they learnt more than just being given the answer
on a silver platter. It also meant that you didn't have to wade
through endless 'Help my computer is broken, how do I fix it' posts
while trying to solve your own problem. No one should abuse the people
trying to help them. I've seen abuse on the Mint forum of all places -
sadly these rude people still get helped, rather than being asked to be
polite when posting. My point is, we need more RTFM!
So, Luc, what are you going to do to help make Claws better?
To Paul and all the other developers who work on Claws, Thank you.
Claws is by far the best email client I've ever used! I've been using
it for 4 years and I still enjoy it. Thanks again.
Regards
Scott
