Yep. I've used both and prefer POP3 for Gmail, but others prefer
IMAP. With POP3, Gmail offers the option to keep the messages on the
server after downloading them, but I think that's disabled by default.
It's been a long time since I set up a Gmail account, so you'll want
to check that setting for sure, especially if you're going to be
experimenting with both protocols to see which you prefer.
