            Bug ID: 4397
Summary: After selecting/checking an Inbox I cannot see cached
                    messages until sync is finished
           Product: Claws Mail
           Version: 3.8.1
          Hardware: PC
                OS: Linux
            Status: NEW
          Severity: enhancement
          Priority: P3
         Component: Folders/IMAP
          Assignee: users at lists.claws-mail.org
          Reporter: mones at users.sourceforge.net

This is a bug reported some time ago in Debian BTS, the core of the problem
seems to be this (quoting original reporter):

> When I click an "INBOX" folder label in the folder list, claws will
> immediately check for new messages on the server for that account.
> That's great. However, as it's doing this, it "hides" everything in
> the message list, and I cannot use the program in any meaningful way
> until it has finished checking the server
[...]
> When using the "Get Mail" button to check the server, the message
> list behaves as I would prefer, with messages visible and actionable
> while checking. So this only seems to happen when the message
> list is updated by clicking/selecting a folder in the folder list. I
> think I would like very much if there was an option to NOT check
> the server just by clicking/selecting a folder, and allow server
> checking only from the Get Mail button

So it seems the pieces are already coded, just need to be used differently.
Although I could also be wrong, of course.
