I've been using Claws Mail for over 15 years now and have never read so
many mis-informed complaints about design. I guess as more users find
Claws Mail, who have been exposed to poorly designed "hand helds" they
become less logical about what desktop design should look like.
The resize handles are properly designated and in the proper locations
where they exist by design and compliance with desktop application
GUI Visual design criteria. To understand this you simply have to
look for the separator lines between views. The separator element of a
line is a visual layout aid which is consistently found in most desktop
applications. The line visual aid is to help users understand the
distinct visual pane from other visual panes. In Claws mail directly
below the message list pane last element, the search box, is a
separating line, that runs from the folder view pane to the the right
edge, indicating a different window view exists below that line. If you
were to close the message view pane (View/Show Hide/Message Pane),
you'd see the search box at the bottom of the message list pane, this
re-enforcing that the search box is for the message list and not the
message view. The placement of those lines is logical, well laid out,
and correct implementation of GUI designs.
If you don't like the design, you can certainly go to what ever other
email client you would like, because that is the freedom that Linux
provides. You might also be able to take the FOSS code and actually
design your own interface. But to complain about a product that is
following design standards is really not necessary.
Thank you to the entire Claws-Mail development team for a wonderful
product that has been my bedrock and go to email client for over 15
years. Cheers!
