I doubt this will ever happen. I have made a bug report against gtk2
which was recognized as a bug by the developers but they closed it
marked 'wont fix' since there was a known and working work around. They
explained that they will only fix bugs in gtk2 if it is a critical or
if it is in a core component where no work around exists - all efforts
go to gtk3 these days.
