Bug ID: 4423
Summary: goes to lunch on POP3 retrieval of Yahoo msgs
Product: Claws Mail
Version: 3.17.3
Hardware: PC
OS: Linux
Status: NEW
Severity: major
Priority: P3
Component: POP3
Assignee: users at lists.claws-mail.org
Reporter: juhuseq at boximail.com
Claws Mail goes to lunch on an initial POP3 download of over 50,000 msgs. On
the 1st attempt, the count of fetched messages reached just 184 before the
Claws Mail window went completely white. Firefox was running at the same time
with no issue. The /top/ command showed claws-mail was using 0.0 cpu. I let
is sit for a couple hours like that, and the UI never recovered from the white
window. So I killed it.
The 2nd time I tried launching this way: ionice -c 2 -n 6 claws-mail
That didn't help. It went to lunch after 88 msgs were fetched. So I killed it
and restarted this way: claws-mail --debug. That time not a single msg was
fetched. It went to lunch at about this point:

* Account 'yahoo - POP3': Connecting to POP3 server: pop.mail.yahoo.com:995...

[14:58:43] POP3< +OK hello from jpop-0.1

Normally the next step is to send the LIST command, but on this 3rd attempt it
doesn't get that far. I should also mention that this is over a normal WAN
(not Tor since Yahoo won't let Tor users authenticate).
4th attempt: ran with --debug but minimized the GUI (to rule out a
malfunctioning animation like the status bar - some apps do better in the
background). ATM it has passed RETR 1000, and it's still running.
