This email is an attempt to pass on some information which might
possibly be useful to other users of claws-mail who, like me, are a bit
mentally challenged. :-)
Just yesterday I managed (after some travail, and a great deal of
guidance (particularly from Paul <claws at thewildbeast.co.uk>), to
install the most recent claws-mail (3.17.6) from source and thereby made
available to myself the various plugins, in particular the Dillo HTML
viewer. (This was my main motivation for the install-from-source
exercise.)
I found it reasonably easy to load the plugin, but then got stuck on
the "*Now* what do I do?" step. I.e. how do I *use* the plugin? I.e.
how do I actually view an email in HTML form?
The claws-mail manual takes you to the link
http://www.claws-mail.org/plugins.php
where you find "More information" uder the "Dillo HTML Viewer" entry.
And there you find screen shots, including
> Dillo HTML Viewer displaying the same email, after clicking on the
> 'Reload' context menu item.
Ah! That's what I need! But WTF is the "'Reload' context menu
item"??? Nowhere could I find any explanation of this term. After a
great deal of thrashing around I discovered that if I clicked on the
last of the little icons appearing on the right hand side of a message
window then I got the HTML display.
On the chance that this might be helpful to others (who are as obtuse
as I am) I have attached a screen shot (converted to pdf form and
annotated) showing what I mean.
Finally let me add that when I at last figured out how to use it, the
Dillo HTML viewer worked like a charm! :-)
cheers,
Rolf Turner
