Hi,

there are two different kinds of digest mails. 1. plain text digest
mails. Those plain test digest mails should be banned, actually some
mailing lists disabled plain text digest, while other mailing list
disabled digest mails at all. 2. MIME digest mails. "A MIME digest has
each message as an attachment inside the message" [1].

The advantage of MIME digest is, that you can reply to individual
mails, without breaking thread or subject.

However, you need to chose the attached mail, otherwise you'll reply
to the summary.

IOW it's neither a bug, nor a feature, it's an user error. You most
likely replied to the digest itself, not to one of the attached emails.

For other mailing lists you most likely selected plain text digest,
where all mails are quoted inside of the digest's buddy. This does
break threading and subject (at best some people edit the subject).
Some mailing lists ban people from the mailing list, if they repeat to
reply to plain text digest, for good reason.
