While I'm in favour of copy and paste, there's also the "Shift+Ctrl+U"
method.
For example "Shift+Ctrl+U" then type "2260" and after that
"Enter" and you get "≠".
From a German keyboard I get "€" by pushing "Right Alt" and "E".
