More explanation is needed:

Are these IMAP accounts and, therefore, have separate mailboxes? Or are these
POP accounts? POP accounts can share a mailbox and a Sent folder, or can be
configured to use separate mailboxes, or separate sub-folders of a common
parent Sent folder, and other variations.

Have you got the options for 'Automatic account selection' set?

Are you using the Folder Properties to set default accounts?

In my particular set up it all works just as it should.
