As far as I know, neither ASLR nor PIC/PIE is a problem when working with gdb.
My guess is that you do not have the splitdebug feature enabled in your
make.conf. see https://wiki.gentoo.org/wiki/Debugging#Don.27t_strip_symbols for
more details.
