Not one word no, but a group/sentence or more, yes. And as Keith
explained, a common way to do so is to double-click on a word, hold the
button down and drag to grow/change the selection word-by-word instead
of char-by-char.
This is quite common and supported in many applications (and even works
in Claws when not inside a quote, except when editing/in the composing
window ofc) and useful; And yes it happens regularly (for me at least).
That's why it would be nice IMHO if one could use another way (i.e.
other than dbl-click) to collapse/expand quotes (e.g. middle click), to
get the usual/expected behavior from double-click (& drag) otherwise,
as now even when disabling the dbl-click to collapse/expand quotes,
dbl-clicks are just ignored, so can't be used for selection purposes.
