Fair enough; I understand that tastes differ. What I was pointing out
was that it probably is not such a bad idea if various other
applications have adopted this practice.

Mapping the show/hide menu bar to just <Alt> in menurc
((gtk_accel_path "<Actions>/Menu/View/ShowHide/MenuBar" "<Alt>")) does
not work. When CM is opened and closed again this line automatically
changes to (gtk_accel_path "<Actions>/Menu/View/ShowHide/MenuBar" "").
Of course, I could map the respective action to some other key but
then what would be the difference between pressing F12 or this other
key? The beauty of LAlt, in my opinion, is in the fact that this key is
by default used to access items in the main menu (LAlt + F --> File menu
etc.) so using it to temporarily show the otherwise hidden menu bar is
sort of logical.
