You are aware that if you keep a sane value, e.g. 72 chars and assumed
you keep anything at auto-..., you anyway can mix wrapped text with
endless line/unwrapped quoted text?

You're just pasting, then after pasting push 1 time undo to get rid of
the auto-wrapping. This doesn't work if you continue editing the text,
but the following does work.

You want to write unwrapped lines and or paste unwrapped text, then in
the composer window go to edit and uncheck auto wrapping and maybe auto
intent either.

You want to write wrapped lines, but paste unwrapped text, then go to
the composer window's edit > special paste and chose unwrapped.

So there's no need to change the sane default values of the
preferences.
