The OP obviously thought that an option not surnamed with 'thread'
should apply to a thread - he submitted a bug report about it.
Noreply wrote that it was a matter of interpretation. My point is
that making UI choices unambiguous is generally a good thing.

Yes, clutter is bad.
The suggestions were intellectual jumping off points only,
hopefully someone will see something practical in one of
them.
