well, before I used Claws Mail, I was using Sylpheed. Claws Mail is a
fork of Sylpheed.

And I basically asked the same for Sylpheed what you are asking for
Claws Mail now (How to use GTK+ 2 themes on Win32?).

You can read about it in the Sylpheed Redmine over there:

http://sylpheed.sraoss.jp/redmine/issues/186

It basically will tell you how to do it.

When the Sylpheed Win32 version was updated to use GTK+ 2.24.23 in
Sylpheed 3.5.0beta1, using GTK+ 2 themes in Sylpheed Win32 suddenly
seemed to work, even though not perfect, but at least it had an effect
on how Sylpheed looked like.

Before that, Sylpheed Win32 was using an older GTK+ 2 version and using
GTK+ 2 themes did not have an effect at all.

The sad thing is:

Claws Mail Win32 also is using an old GTK+ 2 version and using themes
also does not seem to have an effect.

I already asked the Claws Mail developers to update the GTK+ 2 version
to the latest version, see:

http://www.thewildbeast.co.uk/claws-mail/bugzilla/show_bug.cgi?id=3175

Unfortunately though, the Claws Mail developers do not really seem to
care about that, as you can read over there (including the following
posts):

http://lists.claws-mail.org/pipermail/users/2014-June/009843.html

;)

Anyway, I just tried to use a GTK+ 2 theme in Claws Mail 3.10.1 Win32
using the steps described over there:

http://sylpheed.sraoss.jp/redmine/issues/186

but it doesn't work.

Maybe Colin Leroy (a Claws Mail developer maintaining the Win32
version) can help us?

Regards
