Claws-Mail supports auto configuration via RFC 6186 [0]. So your ISP needs to
support this. Basically it is just setting some records in DNS. Your can try
manually:
% dig +short SRV _submission._tcp.gmail.com
5 0 587 smtp.gmail.com.
