I had gmail working here without problems for a number of years. I
dumped them a while back, so deleted the settings. However...
Start with the (maybe not so) obvious; Is the gmail account 'send'
settings set up for SMTP auth? i.e. is it ticked?
That tripped me up on a new (not gmail though) account recently.
