[Users] Opening link in Firefox

Here is a final analysis. Thanks to Kevin who provided the comparison info.

It works for someone (A) with ff 10.0.2 and WindowMaker, but not for someone else (B) with ff 10.0.3 and WindowMaker. But in the latter system, the desired behavior exists with gedit, which opens a new tab in the foreground, and raises the minimized window, when another document is opened from commandline or filemanager.

So far, this clearly hints for a bug in firefox.

Another difference in the systems is that (A) have Xorg 1.9.3, and (B) have version 1.11.4. Hoever, since in (B) gedit works and firefox not, it should be irrelevant.

Between 2005 and 2007, there was quite some discussion about tabs and window behavior. Like
https://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=482354#c16
and as a sidenote, it appears that firefox uses gtk calls to achieve the window behavior.

There even was a complicated wmctrl hack to force the desired behavior
https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=388664#c23 (link to a shell script which maybe could be used as template)
- however, this is all way old. But chances are a bug got (re-)introduced meanwhile.

Anyway, it still holds that as long as you can trigger the inconsistent behavior (inconsistent with the ff preferences setting) with a commandline 'firefox -new-tab' then it clearly is not a claws bug.
