So, i will kind of close my personal issue about GUI window redraw as far as claws is concerned. 

However, i believe that the original issue like reported from Slavko (slow update of message content widget) is not solved, and might be not (or only partly) related to what i reported. The delay was reported to be at workspace switching, but for me, a 1-2 second delay is also visible by by clicking into the message list, and thus switching between different messages. Such a delay is rather unusual on this box, and not exist in any other app. But it might be mitigated or enforced by my underlying GPU driver problem. So i should refrain from adding to this discussion anymore.

I wonder if claws scanning the headers and doing some folder rules checks (even if there aren't any) might cause a slight delay, which could be bloated up when some GKT component or filesystem feature (?) comes into play.
