IMO good idea ;-)

I am using XFCE 4.8, without running GNOME or KDE daemons (except
gnome-keyring), but i can confirm that redrawing the message view part of
the main CM window is slow. Other parts of main windows are displayed
immediate. The appearing the message part of main window is not very
slow, but some time i can see desktop background in this window's part
while the main windows appears after unhide (show) it via systray icon.
This is not only about desktop's background appearing, but consider this
as example.

I cannot confirm that this happens after upgrade to 3.x kernel, because i
was 3.x kernel before the CM 3.8 (now 3.1) and i don't remember this
behavior in CM 3.7.x.

I am using the debian's nvidia non-free driver (290.10) with thinview
enabled and i have in XFCE enabled some composite effects, but disabling
the composition at all don't make any change for this problem.

I don't see this slow redrawing problem with another windows.
