How about showing the output of
ls -laZ ~/.claws-mail/addrbook/
and the debug output of
claws-mail -d
?
Particularly the addrbook directory may be filled with files and backup
files, too, but add a plausibility check. What do the XML files contain?
Do they seem valid as in "do they contain addresses and information" you
are missing?
