[Users] SMTP error when replying by email to Usenet posts

On my Linux Mint 22 Cinnamon PC I installed Claws Mail 4.2.0 and
created a Usenet account configured with Eternal September as the NNTP
server and Namecheap's Private Email SMTP server for outgoing mail.

Browsing and posting to newsgroups works fine but replying by email to
the sender of a post yields this error:

An error happened during SMTP session.
You can try to "Send" again or queue the message with "Send later"

The relevant portion of the log:

Are there more detailed logs? How can I troubleshoot the issue?
