[Users] Top menu bar has disappeared.

When I open a claws-mail window, the top bar (that should have "File
Edit View Message Tools Configuration Help" on it) is no longer there.
I have been messing around twith my system and something that I've
done has had this undesireable effect. Is there anything that I can do
to get this menu bar back?

A web search has revealed an "answer" and also points to the claws FAQ,
which has the same information:

> How can I show/hide the main window menubar?

> Press Ctrl+F12.

But I cannot get this to work --- no effect at all.

I note that I am using a HP Elitebook laptop, on which the function
keys are obscure. The "f1", "f2", etc. labels appear in a small font
on the keys at the very top of the keyboard (which have other symbols
as their fundamental labels).

A web search indicated that to get these keys to act as "function keys",
I should hold down the key labeled "fn". So I did <ctrl><fn><f12>
(where by "<f12>" I mean the key that has a weird label with an
additional f12 label in a tiny font). Nothing happens.

Has anyone any ideas? Thanks.

sincerely,

Unk
