[Users] Kubuntu upgrade caused disaster!

You may not be able to see the start of this thread, which began by my explaining I had run a Ubuntu update (consisting of a long list of programs), after which my Claws Mail was borked. This thread is, hopefully, about how I can recover and be able to get in a useful email connection with the world. I'm currently having to send and receive these emails via the Yahoo web interface, which is not something I'd wish on anybody else.
I'm now on Claws Mail v4.2.0, but I notice that emails sent before Tuesday have "X-Mailer: Claws Mail 4.2.0 (GTK 3.24.41; x86_64-pc-linux-gnu)" in their headings, so the GTK upgrade isn't the problem. So I repeat my question of how can I load the correct plugins so that I can select the ones I want to use?
Thanks,
John

I can't know what you did on Tuesday, and you haven't mentioned which version
you upgraded from or which version you upgraded to. But looking at this page,
https://packages.ubuntu.com/search?keywords=claws-mail&searchon=names&suite=all&section=all,
I would guess you upgraded from at least 20.04 to any later version, so
that's from version 3.x.x to version 4.x.x.

A little more pertinent information would help a lot.

with regards

Paul
