[Users] Kubuntu upgrade caused disaster!

I upgraded my Kubuntu and now I seem to have lost all the passwords to
my accounts, along with all my plugins, some of my preferences and my
font has changed. (Also, I don't seem to be able to send anything using Claws-Mail, so I'm sending this via the Yahoo web page and crossing myn fingers that it works!)

How do I recover? Are the files held somewhere or do I have to rebuild
from scratch?

Immediate answers will be highly appreciated, naturally. But I'll
understand if if takes time to receive this scream for help,
