First you say you have "no idea" what displays the error message and then,two
sentences later, you say firefox displays the error message.
Also this is the first time you mention firefox. This is another case of not
providing enough info in the first place.
Installing google-chrome is not "problem solved". Personally, I'd recommend
sticking with firefox for security/privacy reasons. But more than that, I'd
recommend not viewing html email parts with the standard browser. Use one of
the plugins and don't load remote content by default (if security is what you
want).
Your problem begins because you are using a snap package of firefox, and
therefore you need to install xdg-desktop-portal-gtk to be able to open local
files, (see https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/questions/1425734).
And the moral of this tale is, again, avoid snap packages.
